The Accelerated Recovery foam formula is engineered for elasticity and rebound, with a more rubberized structure than our standard foam. Positioned beneath the Beyond Latex Active surface layer, it works in contrast to it. While Beyond Latex molds and contours to your body, Accelerated Recovery reacts and adapts more quickly beneath it, rebounding as you move rather than holding a fixed shape. This accelerated adaptability is what keeps you from sinking into or getting locked into one position, supporting fewer interruptions and longer stretches in REM and Deep Sleep that define the REM9.

This responsiveness is also a product of density. Essentia foams are built at 5 to 6.25 lb density, notably higher than the 1.5 to 4 lb density used industry-wide. What Foundation Can I Use?

Your new Essentia mattress works perfectly on our No Flex Foundation or Rize Adjustable Foundation 2.0.

You may also use your Essentia on a slatted bed base. Should you opt for slats, ensure that each slat is completely flat and firm (no bowing upwards or plastic parts) and that there are no more than 3 inches of space in between each slat.

Please ensure that you are using a proper foundation option with your Essentia as an improper foundation may affect your warranty. A traditional box spring with spring support should not be used.

No Toxic Flame Retardants

Picking a non-toxic flame retardant that did not affect the performance of our mattresses was of utmost importance. This is why we use Kevlar fabric. While it is the most expensive flame retardant option, it allows us to use a non-toxic fabric that does not go against our Beyond Organic values.

In fact, in Canada, we are not required to use flame retardant and use a bucaneve cotton fabric layer to prevent rubbing and wear and tear.

Essentia is proud to have an allergy-friendly and vegan mattress free of wool or wool padding.

How do Mattresses Ship?

As the leaders in environmental manufacturing, this means that we also had to prioritize a way to ship our dense mattresses to reduce our carbon footprint. In order to do this, we have developed a specially fitted roll-pack machine to compress and roll our mattresses into boxes that take up 75% less space on the delivery truck.

All mattresses are compressed and rolled, shipped in a box. In fact, you may confuse it for a carpet if the weight was no issue. We offer FedEx delivery to your door on every order to non-remote locations of Canada.

For deliveries not on the Island of Vancouver, a remote island that requires multiple ferry trips, or in rural British Columbia, your order may be subject to delivery charges based on your address. If this is the case, our customer care team will reach out to you prior to shipping.

Please note that we must have a full shipping address in order to ship your order. We cannot deliver to post office boxes (PO Boxes) or APOs.

Essentia is a GOLS (Global Organic Latex Standard) 3.0 certified facility CU 847578, able to manufacture organic finished goods. Essentia’s supply chain has demonstrated that there are procedures in place to properly track and manage organic materials up to the point where they are shipped to the client. Essentia has demonstrated it has a system in place that will allow traceability and proper storage of all its GOLS components at all stages of production.

Each Essentia mattress and pillow is also GOLS certified and made with≥ 95% certified organic latex, the highest possible standard for organic latex, and is the main component of our patented Beyond Latex organic foam formulas.

Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the world's leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibers, such as cotton. It ensures strict environmental and social criteria are met across the entire supply chain, from harvesting raw materials to labeling, requiring independent third-party certification. All Essentia mattresses and pillows feature a GOTS certified organic removable cover.

Care for Your Mattress

- Your Essentia mattress will never be flipped, there is only one surface to sleep on. The proper sleep surface is the top of the mattress with the beige organic cotton cover.

- Should you choose to do so, you can rotate your mattress once a year but this is not a required step.

-We do not recommend the use of a waterproof cover with our mattresses unless the situation calls for it such as a small child learning to potty train, worries about an animal having an accident, or any such situation that may result in the bed being soiled.

- In the event there is a small accident or spill on your mattress don’t fret! Your first step will be to absorb as much of the excess liquid as possible with a dry cloth. If you feel the need for surface cleaning we do not recommend the use of any chemical cleaners. You can choose to use essential oils in water such as tea tree and lavender. Allow the surface to fully air dry before putting the covers back on.

- The GOTS certified organic cotton cover is machine washable. As organic cotton can be affected by heat please only wash in cold water using a mild eco-friendly detergent. Allow to air dry.

- Do not use bleach or other chemical cleaners on your mattress.

- You should be using your mattress on a flat, rigid, breathable surface. The mattress should not be used on the floor.

Labels on Your Mattress

When you receive your mattress, there will be a few labels affixed to it. The first you will notice is the tag or flag on the corner of the foot of the mattress that will show your model name.

If you chose to upgrade your foam to our EMF protection foam, you will also find a tag that confirms this.

At the head of the mattress, where you will also find the head of the zipper, will be the law labels, GOTS certified organic label and the Beyond Organic label. Here at Essentia, we do not use any synthetic foams or polyurethane foams. There are no chemical adhesives used to construct our mattresses, we do use a solvent-free, GreenGuard Gold certified, water-based adhesive where needed. For mattresses shipped to the United States, you will see noted the Kevlar fabric non-toxic fire barrier. We do not use any chemical flame retardant or spray any chemicals in our factory.

To demonstrate the durability of Essentia’s high-quality mattresses, a 250lb hexagonal shape roller passes over the mattress 200,000 times, which simulates 10 years of use. What was found is that the Essentia mattress experienced a loss of less than a quarter inch of its original height at the 10-year mark. Based on these results, it’s safe to say you can expect your Essentia to stand the test time, with the added security of your twenty-year prorated warranty.
