The Dormeuse REM9 Active feels soft and cozy, but acts like a firm mattress. Experience luxurious zero gravity comfort that evenly distributes body weight and eliminates pressure points, while still remaining ultra supportive. You’ll stay in deep sleep and rem sleep stages longer as you are lulled into a state of micro-hibernation. Thanks to Essentia’s Active Cooling, the sleep surface actively thermoregulates up to 9 degrees cooler as you sleep.

How does this foam mattress feel?
The Dormeuse REM9 Active is unique as it features 2 of Essentia’s most advanced foam formulas: Active and Accelerated Recovery that can only be described as soft and cozy, but still somehow extremely supportive.
This high-density support system will automatically adjust or adapt to your sleeping position, so you'll experience optimal spinal alignment and pressure relief wether you sleep on your back, side, or stomach. The Accelerated Recovery foam will ensure reduced sleep interruptions as the mattress will basically react to your movements before you ever realize they happened.
The comfort of this mattress can be described as a medium-soft feel with a medium-firm support.
It's generally very hard to describe a foam mattress as firm or soft, which may come as a surprise to you as the mattress industry relies on these terms so deeply. But it’s important to note that the optimal performance of a foam mattress does rely on it being on a firm and sturdy foundation.
Why is this important? Foam contours to your body, and if you are using a weak bed frame or a box spring it can potentially change the overall feel and performance of the mattress in regards to contour and support.

All sizes of the Dormeuse REM9 Active are shipped compressed and rolled.
Twin, TwinXL, and Full sizes ship for free via FedEx to your door. We advise that you get the box to the room the mattress will live in prior to opening the box as it is easier to maneuver that way.
Queen, King and California King size mattresses include complimentary In-Home Delivery ($270 value), as they ship in 2 boxes and require simple assembly. This complimentary service does not include old mattress removal, but you can add this service for $129 during checkout.
If you are purchasing a mattress size that does not include In-Home Delivery and you would like a team to set up your new mattress and remove your old mattress, you can opt to upgrade your shipping to In-Home Delivery for $249. Simply choose this option at checkout.
For deliveries not on the Island of Vancouver, a remote island that requires multiple ferry trips, or in rural British Columbia, your order may be subject to delivery charges based on your address. If this is the case, our customer care team will reach out to you prior to shipping.

Your mattress comes with a 20 year limited warranty. We warranty the first 10 years of your mattress in full! This means should there be any issues that fall under the terms of the warranty, you will get a new mattress and we cover the full replacement value. We also offer free pickup and delivery of your new mattress. After the first 10 years, you have an additional 10 years of prorated warranty coverage.

What Foundation Can I Use?
Your new Essentia mattress works perfectly on our vertebase foundation or Rize adjustable foundation.
You may also use your Essentia on a slatted bed base. Should you opt for slats, ensure that each slat is completely flat and firm (no bowing upwards or plastic parts) and that there are no more than 3 inches of space in between each slat.
Please ensure that you are using a proper foundation option with your Essentia as an improper foundation may affect your warranty. A box spring should not be used unless the inside does not contain actual springs but is a firm surface.
No Toxic Flame Retardants
Picking a non-toxic flame retardant that did not affect the performance of our mattresses was of utmost importance. This is why we use Kevlar fabric. While it is the most expensive flame retardant option, it allows us to use a non-toxic fabric that does not go against our Beyond Organic values.
In fact, in Canada, we are not required to use flame retardant and use a bucaneve cotton fabric layer to prevent rubbing and wear and tear.
Essentia is proud to have an allergy-friendly and vegan mattress free of wool or wool padding.
How do Mattresses Ship?
As the leaders in environmental manufacturing, this means that we also had to prioritize a way to ship our dense mattresses to reduce our carbon footprint. In order to do this, we have developed a specially fitted roll-pack machine to compress and roll our mattresses into boxes that take up 75% less space on the delivery truck.
All mattresses are compressed and rolled, shipped in a tall skinny box. In fact, you may confuse it for a carpet if the weight was no issue. We offer FedEx delivery to your door on every order to non-remote locations of Canada.
The Dormeuse REM9 Active in Queen, King and California King size mattresses include complimentary In-Home Delivery ($270 value), as they ship in 2 boxes and require simple assembly. This complimentary service does not include old mattress removal, but you can add this service for $129 during checkout.
You may opt to upgrade your shipping for any other size to In Home Delivery for $399 per mattress or foundation. With this service, you will receive a call to schedule your delivery and the team will set up your new mattress. They can also remove your old mattress if you choose.

Certifications Explained
Essentia is a GOLS (Global Organic Latex Standard) 3.0 certified facility CU 847578, able to manufacture organic finished goods. Essentia’s supply chain has demonstrated that there are procedures in place to properly track and manage organic materials up to the point where they are shipped to the client. Essentia has demonstrated it has a system in place that will allow traceability and proper storage of all its GOLS components at all stages of production.
Each Essentia mattress and pillow is also GOLS certified and made with≥ 95% certified organic latex, the highest possible standard for organic latex, and is the main component of our patented Beyond Latex organic foam formulas.
Certification for organic fibers, the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is a leading textile processing standard. GOTS includes ecological and social criteria with independent certification of the entire textile supply chain. Essentia holds a GOTS 4.0 factory certification, ensuring that the entire supply chain has demonstrated proper practices to track and manage organic materials. All organic cotton used is also GOTS certified.
Care for Your Mattress
- Your Essentia mattress will never be flipped, there is only one surface to sleep on. The proper sleep surface is the top of the mattress with the beige organic cotton cover.
- Should you choose to do so, you can rotate your mattress once a year but this is not a required step.
-We do not recommend the use of a waterproof cover with our mattresses unless the situation calls for it such as a small child learning to potty train, worries about an animal having an accident, or any such situation that may result in the bed being soiled.
- In the event there is a small accident or spill on your mattress don’t fret! Your first step will be to absorb as much of the excess liquid as possible with a dry cloth. If you feel the need for surface cleaning we do not recommend the use of any chemical cleaners. You can choose to use essential oils in water such as tea tree and lavender. Allow the surface to fully air dry before putting the covers back on.
- The GOTS certified organic cotton cover is machine washable. As organic cotton can be affected by heat please only wash in cold water using a mild eco-friendly detergent. Allow to air dry.
- Do not use bleach or other chemical cleaners on your mattress.
- You should be using your mattress on a flat, rigid, breathable surface. The mattress should not be used on the floor.
Labels on Your Mattress
When you receive your mattress, there will be a few labels affixed to it. The first you will notice is the tag or flag on the corner of the foot of the mattress that will show your model name.
If you chose to upgrade your foam to our EMF protection foam, you will also find a tag that confirms this.
At the head of the mattress, where you will also find the head of the zipper, will be the law labels, GOTS certified organic label and the Beyond Organic label. Here at Essentia, we do not use any synthetic foams or polyurethane foams. There are no chemical adhesives used to construct our mattresses, we do use a solvent-free, GreenGuard Gold certified, water-based adhesive where needed. For mattresses shipped to the United States, you will see noted the Kevlar fabric non-toxic fire barrier. We do not use any chemical flame retardant or spray any chemicals in our factory.

Essentia’s mattresses feature a 20-year prorated warranty! To demonstrate the durability of Essentia’s high-quality mattresses, a 250lb hexagonal shape roller passes over the mattress 200,000 times, which simulates 10 years of use. What was found is that the Essentia mattress experienced a loss of less than a quarter inch of its original height at the 10-year mark. Based on these results, it’s safe to say you can expect your Essentia to stand the test time, with the added security of your twenty-year prorated warranty.
